IT System / Network Engineer.
Responsibilities: To monitor, maintain, support, and optimize of all network hardware, software, and communication links in order to provide maximum performance and availability for system users, and to analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems.
Good experience in Network implementation, Troubleshooting, Configuration + Good experience in Windows Servers, Installation.Configuration.AD.GP.OU. Disaster recovery.
Actively contributes to the development of the team’s services, the planning, specification, development, installation, implementation and daily operation and management of supported server and desktop systems including first and second line support services.
Administering Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory. TCP/IP, DNS DHCP WINS. Microsoft Operating Systems, Android, Apple IOS, Virtualization, Web technology, Microsoft Office. Administering network devices, Backup/Recovery processes, Security management. Networking architecture principals. Excellent communication skills, Good problem-solving skills, Able to work under pressure.
Skills
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards ensuring a reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
- Installs hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices including routers, Wi-Fi controllers, and firewalls
- Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances
- Researches products, recommends software and hardware and points out security glitches
- Ensures that all IT equipment complies with industry standards
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization
- Identifies, diagnoses and resolves network problems as needed swiftly and efficiently
- Analyses and resolves faults, ranging from a major system crash to a forgotten password
- Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Provides training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence if required.
- Installs and configures computer hardware, operating systems, and applications
Maintains the integrity of company data by ensuring systems are monitored effectively and securely.
- Monitors and maintains backup and recovery including carrying out logging and sampling of all system backups.
- Implements and manages disaster recovery and carries out periodic testing
Monitors and manages software licensing and ensures timely renewal
Carries out routine maintenance of systems and applications
Makes recommendations and obtains quotations for IT related hardware, software, and consumables.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems, with an emphasis on Windows experience in the provision of support for the Microsoft Office, Windows Server, Network Switches, Wireless access points, Active components. Firewall etc.
- Demonstrates a high degree of competency in all aspects of system and network administration in a small to medium sized enterprise that preferably complies with international IT standards of best practice.
- Coordinates with and supports other internal and 3rd party IT resources.
- Good experience in Network implementation, Troubleshooting, Configuration + Good experience in Windows Servers, Installation.Configuration.AD.GP.OU. Disaster recovery.
Qualification
- Sc. Degree in Computer Science or similar.
- Professional certification from relevant institutions will be an added advantage.
